In Mart Visser's world, wood is an endless source of inspiration. He spends hours combing beaches around the world, searching for natural treasures imbued with character and history. This unique sculpture embodies the perfect fusion of driftwood, weathered patina beams, and a handle from an old wooden tool. Each element is found in its natural state: naturally formed wood, beams that once played a functional role in construction, and an object with traces of daily use. These three foundations consistently reappear in the artist's work, forming the essence of his unique visual language.

The dialogue between nature, craftsmanship, and functionality
The driftwood, rough and marked by water and time, forms the basis of the artwork. Its irregular shape and rough texture tell the story of aimless travels, of natural strength and surrender. Opposite the driftwood is the worked wood: geometric, smoothed, and clearly shaped by human hands. It embodies order, control, and culture, contrasting with the untamed origin of the driftwood. The third element, recognizable as a tool, breaks through the abstraction and brings a human trace, a reminder of everyday life. Together, the three materials create an engaging dialogue between nature, craftsmanship, and functionality, challenging the viewer to reflect on the boundaries between natural elements and human intervention.
