A cubist view on identity and form
A powerful cubist sculpture where form, light, and perspective come together. Mart Visser created this sculpture in 2022. The work is constructed from silver-colored plates that form an abstract head, with each angle revealing a different layer. The sharply cut metal surfaces extend in various directions, transforming the image itself and actively influencing the space it occupies. This cubist sculpture breaks the head down into segments, abstract, yet still recognizable as the human form. The reflective surface captures light in surprising ways, enhancing the dynamics of the work. The fragmentation raises questions about identity, perspective, and personality. What is a face when it falls apart? And how many versions of ourselves really exist? The power of this sculpture lies not only in its form, but also in the underlying themes it evokes: introspection and the beauty of imperfection.

Industrial material with emotional significance
In line with his multidisciplinary approach, Visser uses industrial building materials here in an unexpectedly poetic way. The robust, silver-colored metal appears inflexible at first glance, but takes on a surprisingly vulnerable aura under Visser’s hand. The head seems as though it could be reshaped at any moment, as if it's not yet finished, and that's precisely the strength. The precision of his fashion designs resonates in the clean lines and composition choices of this work. This sculpture is the first piece in a limited edition of three. It is a striking art object for spaces where design and emotion converge.
