Blended Portrait: Color, Blur, and Inner Tension
This painting presents an expressive head composed of a multitude of colors, applied in layers and then partially wiped, blurred, or painted over. Red, blue, and yellow, the primary colors, form the foundation of the palette, but are mixed with white, black, and earthy tones. The result is not a loud burst of color, but a controlled unrest: a portrait that breathes contrast, texture, and emotional nuance. The brushwork is energetic and physically present. Color areas are not clean or sharply defined, but flow into one another, like fading memories or thoughts that resist being held. Parts of the face remain visible, while others dissolve into the painting process. The light grey background serves as a calm counterpart to the color-charged face, a quiet space that allows the composition to breathe and settle.

Color as Emotional Landscape
This work does not ask for interpretation, but for presence. It moves between energy and stillness, between expression and restraint. In a space defined by calm or contrast, natural materials, soft greys, or a bare white wall, the painting comes alive as a visual voice. Not loud, but insistent. A meditation on color, the body, and the elusive shape of identity. Mart Visser explores here the tension between control and spontaneity, between composition and chaos. His method is investigative and layered: paint is not simply added, but also removed, shifted, reconsidered. The colors speak in depth, sometimes vibrant, sometimes muted, forming a portrait that reflects a state of being rather than a specific individual.
